West Fargo veteran Glen Maurer was honored as 2010 AMVET of the Year at the recent Silver Helmet Awards ceremony in Herndon, Va.
Maurer was selected from a group of more than a dozen AMVETS members from around the country who distinguished themselves within their communities as sustained champions of veterans' service.
In more than two decades as a life member of AMVETS Post No. 8 in West Fargo, Maurer has represented AMVETS at the post, department and national levels, serving as post commander, Department of North Dakota commander, and National Veterans Affairs voluntary services representative.
