Cass County officials warn drivers that recent wet conditions, including washouts, have hampered efforts to maintain rural gravel roads.
A large fleet of gravel trucks had to be shut down Tuesday because they were causing too much damage to roads, an example of the difficulties from the wet conditions.
"As of this time, all county gravel roads are passable, but many have extended soft areas that require caution," a county statement advised. "With the forecast for heavy rains in upcoming days, things may get worse before they get better."
But the county will continue to "take all practical steps" to improve gravel road conditions, including weekend work when moisture conditions permit. For more information, contact County Engineer Keith Berndt at (701) 298-2370.
