White Earth council incumbents hold seats in election

Incumbent Terrence "Terry" Tibbetts held off a challenge from Kenneth M. Coleman Jr. Tuesday to keep his post as District 2 representative on the White Earth (Minn.) Tribal Council.

Incumbent Terrence "Terry" Tibbetts held off a challenge from Kenneth M. Coleman Jr. Tuesday to keep his post as District 2 representative on the White Earth (Minn.) Tribal Council.

Tibbetts received 480 votes, or 51.5 percent of the vote, to Coleman's 452 votes, or 48.5 percent of the vote.

In other White Earth races Tuesday:

District 1 representative incumbent Irene "Rene" Auginaush defeated challenger Steve "Punky" Clark.

Auginaush received 296 votes, or 53 percent, to Clark's 267 votes, or 47 percent.

Robert J. Durant was elected secretary/treasurer with 1,632 votes, or 67 percent.

He defeated Eugene "Bugger" McArthur, who received 807 votes, or 33 percent.
