Wildlife refuge to host annual open house

The Red River Zoo's traveling ZooMobile will be showcased at the Rydell National Wildlife Refuge annual open house.

"Encounters of the Animal Kind" will be held at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12 and will also offer children's crafts.

Attendees can also try to locate hidden items using a Global Positioning System during a demonstration about orienteering, according to a news release.

The refuge is located three miles east of Mentor or three miles west of Erskine on U.S. Highway 2: Turn south on Polk County Road 210 and travel 2.5 miles south to the entrance.
