DULUTH, Minn. - Duluth police were investigating Monday what may have been an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old boy.

The boy was walking near the Miller Hall Mall with an adult staff member from his group home Saturday when a shiny orange pickup truck pulled up.

A woman, who was a passenger, came out of the pickup and grabbed the boy by the wrist. The woman told the staff member that she was the boy's teacher and that he needed to come with her.

The staff member refused to allow the boy to go with her. The woman then said she was a police officer, but the staffer still refused to allow her to take the boy.

The woman got back into the pickup and left. She's described as a white woman in her mid 40s, about five-foot-six, with a very thin build and brown hair. She spoke with a southern accent.

The pickup was an older model - possibly late 1970s - with tinted windows, chrome trim around the windshield and loud exhaust.
