A Moorhead woman faces DWI charges following a crash in Moorhead Thursday night.

Moorhead police and rescue units were called to the area of Third Street and Second Avenue South about 11:30 p.m. on a report of a vehicle striking a power pole.

Moorhead Police Sgt. Shannon Monroe identified the driver of the car as Darlene J. Brandon, 62.

He said Brandon was southbound on Third Street when her vehicle hit the utility pole. The collision knocked out power to the downtown area.

A downed power line temporarily prevented workers from reaching Brandon, but she was later freed from the vehicle and taken to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo for treatment of minor injuries, Monroe said.

The street was reopened and power restored to the area about 90 minutes after the crash, he said.
