A Fargo man was arrested after his girlfriend told police he used a gun to keep her from leaving his home.

Police arrested Jon Jerger, 41, during a traffic stop about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. His girlfriend, whom police would not name, reported her ordeal with the man about five hours earlier. The incident happened at Jerger's address, 2240 301/2 Ave. S., police said.

The woman told police Jerger became upset Tuesday afternoon after the two had an argument. At one point he pulled out a gun and refused to let her leave or call police, Sgt. Pat Claus said.

The episode lasted until about 9 p.m. Tuesday, but Claus said he wasn't sure how the standoff ended. The woman called police the following morning.

Officers stopped Jerger on the 2700 block of 18th Street South. In his vehicle they found marijuana paraphernalia, Claus said. He was arrested on suspicion of terrorizing, felonious restraint and interfering with an emergency call.

No charges had been filed by late Thursday afternoon, but Jerger was scheduled to appear today in Cass County District Court. A message left for him Thursday at the jail was not returned.

Police confiscated two shotguns and three rifles from Jerger's home, Claus said.
