VERGAS, Minn. - An 80-year-old woman is dead after a tree fell on her while she was cutting wood Saturday at a home near Vergas.
Florence Soland of Vergas was helping family members cut firewood when the tree fell on her.
Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to 315th Avenue, west of Vergas, at around 3 p.m. on a report that the woman had been seriously injured. Soland was declared dead at the scene.
Vergas Rescue, Vergas Fire and Pelican Rapids Ambulance assisted with the incident.
