A 31-year-old woman pleaded guilty in East Central District Court Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge from a fatal traffic accident last summer in Fargo.
Cass County Assistant State's Attorney Leah Viste said Mindy Lee Roehl, Fargo, pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
Judge Georgia Dawson deferred imposition of sentence for one year, put her on a year of unsupervised probation and assessed $225 in court costs.
Roehl was charged after a June 8 crash in which she hit and killed Sue Ann Barnhart, 54, as she walked across 18th Avenue to get to work at MeritCare South University.
Viste said Dawson sentenced Roehl after Barnhart's husband, Tom Barnhart, read a victim impact statement Dawson called "one of the most compassionate ... that had ever been given in the court."

"He said, we pray for you and know this has got to be horrible and we forgive you," Viste said.
