GRAND FORKS - Three anglers and Grand Forks police officers rescued a 65-year-old woman from the Red River near downtown Thursday night.
According to a police press release, the Police Department received a report of a woman in distress in the water near the railroad bridge. The officers located the woman in the river, and three people in a boat on the river were able to remove her from the water. The woman was taken to Altru Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Police also received information that another person may have been in the river, but members of the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks fire departments and the Regional Water Operations Team could not find anyone in a search.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
