The YWCA is taking applications for its 2006 Women of the Year awards, to be given away during a ceremony April 24 at the Fargo Holiday Inn.
Any woman living in the Cass-Clay community can be nominated. The banquet, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will honor women who uphold the YWCA's mission: to empower women and girls and to eliminate racism.
Women can be nominated in following 13 categories: advocating for equality; arts and communications; business; business/organization that empowers women; community service; education; faith community; Florence Reed Owens lifetime achievement; volunteer service; wellness; young leader; youth advocacy and young woman of tomorrow.
The deadline for nominations is March 3, with forms available at the YWCA administrative offices at 3100 12th Ave. N. in Fargo or online at www.ywcacassclay.org .
