COLFAX, N.D. - The state Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash early Friday in rural Richland County that killed a 31-year-old man.

Eric Gene Johnson of Wyndmere, N.D., was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger westbound on County Road 4 at the Wild Rice River about 2:25 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and went into the ditch, the patrol said.

The car vaulted over the Wild Rice River, landed on the east bank and then vaulted over the river bank before rolling and coming to rest on its top.

Johnson was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, which is about four miles east of Colfax, the patrol said.
