The Moorhead City Council on Monday unanimously approved the sale of 10 acres of land to the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA for $1.

The decision allows the YMCA to enter into an option agreement that entitles the organization to acquire land and kick off a capital campaign to raise funds for a new facility.

The YMCA wants to build a new recreational facility with an indoor fitness/aquatic center on the property within Moorhead's new 100-acre Regional Park near 28th Street and 40th Avenue South.

Moorhead officials said they were pleased the YMCA will build in the city's growing south section.
