Young artists solo contest scheduled

Minnesota Public Radio and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Guild will host the 26th Annual Young Artists Solo Competition Jan. 6 at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Minnesota Public Radio and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Guild will host the 26th Annual Young Artists Solo Competition Jan. 6 at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The deadline is Dec. 1 for applications to the competition for high school students in grades 10 through 12.

The competition is open to all high school students within 150 miles of Fargo-Moorhead. Students may play a piece from the approved competition repertory, and can compete using any orchestral instrument, including piano.

Cash awards of $500, $400 and $300 will be presented to the top three; and the first-place winner will receive scholarships from all three of the area colleges.
