FARGO – The Herdina Academy for the Construction Trades is offering North Dakota and Minnesota high school students age 15 and older the chance to earn college credits.
The two-week session will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 4-15.
Those who successfully complete the academy will earn three college credits from Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Credits can be used for plumbing technology, heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical technology, construction management, civil engineering, architectural drafting and design or drafting and 3-D technologies programs.
Students will work side-by-side with industry and education professionals, learning about occupations, tools, safety requirements and skills required for particular trades.
A $500 scholarship from the Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead Foundation will be awarded to an outstanding student who completes the academy and plans to enroll in a construction-related field at M State-Moorhead or North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. M State and North Dakota State College of Science will each offer a $1,000 scholarship, as well.
