No. 12-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater stymies Cobbers to earn victory

WHITEWATER, Wis. -- Senior quarterback Cole Wilber passed for 223 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 12-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater to a 24-6 victory against Concordia on Saturday in Division III football at Perkins Stadium before 8,168 fans.

The Warhawks (2-0) scored 24 points in the first half and handed Concordia (1-1) its first loss this season.

Mitchell Dess and JT Parish each had touchdown catches for Whitewater. Dess finished with five receptions for 77 yards, including a 50-yard TD catch in the first quarter that gave the Warhawks a 14-0 lead.

Wisconsin-Whitewater limited the Cobbers to 173 yards on 60 plays. Concordia rushed for 96 yards on 31 attempts.

Cobbers quarterback Blake Kragnes tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Cihak with 1 minute, 35 seconds to play in the third quarter for Concordia's only points. Kragnes completed 15 of 28 passes for 55 yards. Dane Ringquist paced the Cobbers on the ground, rushing for 60 yards on 12 attempts.

Concordia earned a 25-17 home victory against Whitewater last fall when the two teams played at Jake Christiansen Stadium.
