Gerald "Jerry" Sinclair
Gerald "Jerry" Sinclair, 80, of Fargo, ND, died suddenly in a car accident on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
Jerry Sinclair was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 5, 1935. He was adopted by Earl and Hazel (Sours) Sinclair. His family lived in Minneapolis up until he was 5 years old. They then moved to Larimore, ND where he attended school. He graduated from Larimore High School, where he and Shirley (Paupst) Sinclair, who were married for 51 years, were high school classmates.
Jerry excelled in all sports and received a scholarship to play football for Jamestown College. He turned down the scholarship to take a job with Northwestern Bell.
Jerry married Shirley Paupst on June 30, 1956 in Arvilla, ND. They lived in Lakota, where he was employed by the telephone company until he went into the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, near El Paso, Texas. While in the Army he served with the Nike Ajax Missile Defense Program and as a military policeman. Their two sons, Craig and Brad, were born in El Paso.
After Jerry was honorably discharged from the Army, the family moved back to North Dakota. They lived in a succession of communities, moving from Lakota to Valley City, Grafton, Grand Forks and finally, Fargo. Their daughter, Dee, was born in Grafton. Daughter, Nanette, was born in Fargo. He worked for NWB and US West for 33 years. He retired at the age of 51 from the Engineering Department.
Jerry spent much of his free time remodeling an old farmstead and two lake homes with his son Brad. He was involved in many of the electrical projects. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories from the old days.
Jerry is survived by two sons, Craig (Juliet) Sinclair, Fargo, ND; Brad (Tracy) Sinclair, Fargo, ND and Vergas, MN; two daughters, Dee Sinclair, Fargo, ND and Vergas, MN; and Nanette (David) Boe, Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Ryan Sinclair and Nick Boe; two granddaughters, Megan Boe and Nicole Sinclair, all of Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, ND, where Jerry will be laid to rest next to his wife.
