“To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die…”
Violet Mae Dalen was born September 5, 1934, to George and Mary (Wambach) Dalen on the family farm near Georgetown, MN. She attended school in Perley, MN, and in Moorhead, MN. Upon graduation she worked at Northwest Bakery, Moorhead.
On May 7, 1953, Violet was united in marriage to Jacob Allen Stein, in Moorhead. After marriage, Violet became a full-time homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her children and husband.
Violet will forever be remembered as the woman who could never sit still. Constant at tending to inside and outside duties, plus raising five children left not a moment to waste. Pride in her family and home was important, and this was reflected in all that she did.
Yet, in time of need, Violet was always there for family and friends with understanding and reassurance that all would be well, along with a sense of humor that left your ribs aching from laughter.
Violet passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in Pelican Valley Health Center, Pelican Rapids, MN, at the age of 84. She is survived by her children, Brett (Janice) Stein, Pelican Rapids, Katherine (Daniel) Schillinger, Breckenridge, MN, Ross (Cheryl) Stein, Pelican Rapids, and Dawn (James Jugovich) Stein, Perham, MN; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gail Dalen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jacob; daughter, Vicky; her parents; grandsons, Jacque and Joshton; sisters, Elsie Jacobson, Irene Nickerson, Georgia Taylor, Rose Eberhardt, Jean Boothroyd, Evelyn Kroshus, and Virginia Brainerd; and brothers, George and General Dalen.
The family will celebrate Violet’s life with a private gathering following her burial at Scambler Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN.
