Roland H. Greenfield
Roland Harris Greenfield, 90, of Anacortes, passed peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2018. He was born in Wolverton, Minnesota on July 3, 1928, the son of John and Nanna Greenfield. Roland had one brother and three sisters. He served his country in the U.S. Army, while being stationed in Japan and received WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal - Japan, upon his honorable discharge in 1948.
Roland married the love of his life, Maxine Catheryn Krebs in 1955 and together they had three children. He began an Equipment Rental Business in 1967 and was the owner/operator of Island Rentals in Anacortes from 1974-2007. Roland enjoyed camping and traveling in his motorhome and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great grands. Apart from being a family man, his business and recreation, he also gave back to the community by being a member of Anacortes Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Noon Club of Anacortes, the Anacortes Eagles, the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign War of Bismarck, North Dakota. Roland is predeceased by his parents, and his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine; his children and their spouses: Doug (Cindy), Greg (Brenda) and Nancy (Chuck); nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Roland's Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Fernhill Cemetery, 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 followed by a Memorial Service with a Reception, 11 a.m. at the Anacortes Lutheran Church. Donations in Roland's name may be made to the Anacortes Lutheran Church or to the Kiwanis Noon Club.
