Alphe J. Rheault

Alphe J. Rheault, 84, Born March 4, 1936 to Louis and Alberta (Lavelle) Rheault. God called him home May 27, 2020. Alphe was the seventh of eight children.

Alphe met the love of his life, Gloria Fischer in 1951. They were married October 30, 1952 in Decorah, IA. They have 8 children, 22 Grand children and 23 Great Grand children.

Alphe and Gloria lived in Fargo until he joined the Army in December 1956 until December 1958, serving his time in North Carolina and Georgia before returning to Fargo. Alphe also served several stints in the North Dakota Air National Guard, leaving the Service at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1989.

Alphe worked several years for the Fargo Water Treatment Plant. He went on to become a truck driver. After retiring he started a business building and repairing pallets. Alphe belonged to El Zagal in the Arab Patrol unit. He also enjoyed puttering in the flower garden in later years. He belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church, especially enjoying the social hour after mass where he set out coffee and refreshments and mingled. Eventually earning the nickname “Mr. Coffee”.

Alphe is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 67 years, and his children: Steven (Kim – d.), Sandy (Greg Duncan), Karen, Dennis, Sharon (Jeff) Martens, Judy (Tim) Gefroh, Lori (Paul) Kautz, Tim (Jenny), his Grand children and Great Grand children. Sisters: Phyllis Grandbois, and Arlene (Gordon) Gilberts. Sister-in-law: Joan Rheault, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alphe was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Edward, Norman and Milton; Sisters Mae Rheault and Denise Wheeler; Great Grandson Arlo Christianson, Jr.; Son-in-law Mark Springstead; Sisters-in-law Mary Lou Rheault and Joy Rheault; Brothers-in-law Kenneth Mund, Harry Wheeler and Marcel Grandbois.

Visitation will be Monday June 1, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday June 2, 2020 at 10:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Church requires masks and social distancing. Seating will be marked.

Burial Urn made by Alphe’s son Dennis and grandson’s DJ and Joey.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
