Bennie Muscha, 87, Harvey, ND died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey. Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with prayer services beginning at 7 p.m. all taking place at the church. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday, July 19 at the Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND. Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Bennie David Muscha was born in Harvey, ND on March 25th, 1934 to Joseph and Margaret (Holzer) Muscha. Bennie grew up in rural Harvey and attended Wells County Schools. He served in the armory until he was Honorable Discharged in 1955.

Bennie met his soulmate Glennis Mertz while she worked at Kirton’s Café in Harvey. Bennie and Glennis were married on October 24th, 1957 in Harvey, ND. They made their home in Harvey and soon after started their family, having 9 children.

Bennie’s faith was very important to him, he was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Bennie worked for Bowlinger Construction and later at BM Hanson Elementary in Harvey, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. Bennie also helped many local farmers over the years.

Bennie loved spending time with Glennis and their children, they enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow into adults and the addition of 14 great grandchildren. Bennie took pride in taking care of their yard, growing bountiful vegetable gardens and beautiful flower beds. Bennie also loved John Deere tractors, he spent many hours reading about them, buying, restoring, and selling them.

Bennie loved hunting and fishing with his family, friends and his black lab, Stormy. Ice fishing was a favorite hobby. The best part was the time spent making memories and telling stories with his family. A highlight for Bennie was meeting the President of Henry Firearms, Anthony Imperato; who presented him with a rifle in memory of his late son Craig.

Bennie was forevermore united with his late wife Glennis, on the morning of July 13th, after a year long battle with cancer.

Bennie is survived by his children, JoAnn (Dean) Schneibel of Fargo, Chuck (Dawn) Muscha of Kildeer, Brian (Laura) Muscha of Harvey, Julie Muscha (Roger Earl) of Deephaven, MN, Nancy (Dan) Kanwischer, West Fargo, Ben (Carmen) Muscha, Tempe, AZ, Joyce Schmaltz, Casselton, Pam (Jim) Foss, Casselton and daughter-in-law Rita Muscha, Williston, ND. As well as 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Art and Richard and sisters, Shirley, Virginia and Rose.

Bennie is proceeded in death by his wife, Glennis, son, Craig, son-in-law Robert Schmaltz, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
