Claudia Jean (Remark) Johnson
Claudia Jean (Remark) Johnson, 69, of Plymouth, MN passed away on Feb. 8th after an 18-month battle with brain cancer. Her loving husband Ted, and daughter Sarah were with her.
Claudia was born on Sept. 29, 1951 in Fargo, ND to Louis and Dorothy Remark. She grew up in Moorhead graduating from Moorhead High School in 1969. She then attended St. Olaf College graduating in 1973.
The summer after her graduation, she worked at Fair Hills Resort on Pelican Lake. That summer she met her future husband, Ted Johnson. He used to come by the resort in his flashy red boat and take her water skiing, sometimes skiing with her on his shoulders. They married on Dec. 27, 1974 and lived in Arizona for 13 years before moving to Minnetonka MN.
Claudia loved kids and had a way of making each child she was with feel special. She cheered on her own two children and influenced many others through her teaching at All Saints Pre-school. Claudia enjoyed traveling and was thrilled when Ted’s career took their family to England for four years. She taught at TASIS and enjoyed exploring Europe on weekends and holidays.
Claudia’s children and grandchildren meant the world to her and she spent considerable time with each of them. She also loved to exercise, read about travel and fashion, go on coffee dates to Caribou and was working on her first novel.
Claudia is survived by her husband Ted; two children, T.J. Johnson (Sofi Asmundsson) Norfolk, VA and Sarah Benolkin (Lauren), Plymouth, MN; four grandchildren: Isak, Liv, and Lilly Asmundsson, and Brooklyn Benolkin; her mother, Dorothy Remark, three siblings: Bob (Deb) Remark, Kim (Mike) Slette, Jane (Dave) Sederquist all of Moorhead; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Louis Remark.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
