Craig K. Boomgaarden, 57, passed away on Monday May 20th, 2019 at the Bethany Retirement Home in Fargo ND after a long illness and a short time with Ethos Hospice. Craig Kelvin Kretchmar was born in San Diego CA on December 22nd, 1961. Craig was the first of five boys growing up in Jamestown ND and Detroit Lakes MN. Craig proudly served in the US Air Force from 1981-1984 and was grateful to the Veterans Administration for his care over the years. Craig was married briefly while in the Air Force during which time his daughter Christa was born. Christa Riche’, Wadena MN, was the apple of her Daddy’s eye. The two of them were best friends and spent many hours talking and playing “I love you” wars, watching movies and just being together. Christa has five children. Craig’s grandchildren adored their time with their grandfather. Craig is survived by his mother Ardell (Jamestown ND) and father F. George (Judy; Mission TX), his brothers Derrick (Oakdale MN), Blair (Elena; Edinboro PA), Brett (Kristel; Goodridge MN), Everett Stephanie; Edinboro PA), his daughter Christa Riche’; Wadena MN), his grandchildren Riche’ Lynn, Asia Sky, Riley Craig, Ashtun Paul and Caelen Michael, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carter, his maternal grandmother Edna and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 16th from 2pm to 5pm at the Country Inn and Suites, Meadow Room, 3316 13th Ave S. Fargo ND to honor Craig.
