Delores Beaver

Delores Sarah Beaver, daughter of William and Jeanette (Garland) Turner was born January 7, 1936 in Ludden, ND. She attended and graduated from the Oakes High School in Oakes, ND.

Delores was very active in her community. She worked at the Four Seasons Health Care Center in Forman as a cook and volunteered as the Activity Director. She was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1986.

Delores was also active in her homemaker’s club and neighborhood birthday club as well as the Food Pantry.

As a loving wife and caretaker to her husband Clifford as his health declined they relocated to Oakes. After his death, Delores move to Beverly Ann Assisted Living in Lisbon, ND as her health too started to decline. While living there, she spent many hours planting and maintaining the flowers and the garden. The residents and staff quickly became her family.

Again for health reasons, Delores moved to Mandan to Lakewood Landing Assisted Living, where she enjoyed planting flowers and the garden as well as her other hobbies of painting, quilting, jewelry making and so many other things.

Clifford and Delores raised a family of four children: Cheryl Porthan of Minneapolis, Diane (Wayne) Frenzel of Mandan, Dale (Coleen) Beaver of Stirum, and Bill (Janelle) Beaver of Forman. They also have 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also part of her family is brother-in-law Richard (Virginia) Beaver of Fargo and sister-in-law Janice Beaver of Remer, MN. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews who remained dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, and one brother as well as her parents.

Delores died on Tuesday, July 14 peacefully at home with family nearby. She was 85 years old.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by her funeral at 3:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Oakes with Pastor Robert Moorlach and Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. Shirley Olson will be both the vocalist and the pianist. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND on Monday, July 19th at 10:00.
