Dennis “Gene” E. Monson
Dennis “Gene” Eugene Monson, 86, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Bethany Nursing Home, surrounded by family and friends. Dennis was born in Marion, ND, on January 5, 1933, the son of Henry and Eleanor (Dahl) Monson. On May 10, 1959, Dennis was united in marriage to Dorothy (Peterson) and they made their home north of Litchville, ND, where they farmed. Dorothy and Dennis lived in several areas in the region before settling back in Fargo. He was very proud of his military service in the Korean War. One of his proudest moments was participating in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Dennis had many occupations, including farming, construction, and manufacturing. He was most proud of his work at WCCO Belting in Wahpeton, ND. Dennis had a firm and devout faith in God. He was an active member of the Pentecostal Church. Everyone who knew him, knew he had a daily walk with God, and was looking forward to joining his beloved wife in heaven. Dennis is survived by his children, Terry (Linda) Monson, Tammie (Larry) Schaffer, Sandra (Roger) Anderson, Raynold (Lori) Monson, Gail Paschke, Becky Wold, Shawn (Diana) Monson, 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Gerald (Florence), Ronald (Pauline), James (Clarice), Cheryl (Jerry). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, parents, and sister Joanne Skramstad; son-in-law, Dan Wold; and brother-in-law, Thorvald Skramstad. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. Visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Changing Lives Tabernacle, West Fargo, ND. Burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
