Dermot Hochhalter
Dermot Hochhalter, 78, West Fargo, ND died on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by family and with Hospice of the RRV.
Dermot G. Hochhalter was born in Eureka, SD on January 2, 1942 to Theodore and Ida (Gehring) Hochhalter. Dermot grew up in Wishek, ND and attended Wishek Public School. After Dermot completed the 10th grade, he worked various odd jobs in Wishek until November 1963 when he joined the US Army. He attended basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, MO, then to Ft. Benning, GA. In the spring of 1965, he served in Vietnam until the fall of 1965 when he was discharged. After the service, Dermot worked at the Oakes Cheese Factory for three years. Dermot married Diane Sommers on April 26, 1969. They moved to Fargo where he was employed at Cass Clay Creamery for 27 years retiring in 2004.
For entertainment, Dermot enjoyed jig saw puzzles and playing cards.
Dermot is survived by his wife Diane; two children, Cheryl Meyer of Fargo and Jeffrey Hochhalter of West Fargo; granddaughter, Emily Meyer; siblings, Stanley (Joy) of Ronan, MT, Dennis (Peggy) Hochhalter of Fargo, ND, Ron Hochhalter of Rosemont, MN, Betty (Joe) Torez of Bloomington, MN, James Hochhalter of Wishek, ND, Don (Lora) Hochhalter of Wishek, ND and Terry Hochhalter of Bismarck, ND.
Dermot was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Ruff.
Visitation: Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 6 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Funeral: Wednesday, June 10 at 9:45 AM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo.
Burial: Fargo National Cemetery, rural Harwood, ND.
