Florence G. Strander

Florence Gladys Strander, 97 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Monday, September 23, 2019 at CHI Lisbon Health. Florence was born on August 21, 1922, the daughter of Kernel and Alma (Olson) Anderson in Hanson Township of rural Ransom County, North Dakota. She attended Hanson School in Hanson Township. During her younger years she worked for the Wagner family in Englevale. Florence was united in marriage to Harry Strander on June 26, 1943 in Fort Ransom, North Dakota. After Harry was drafted to serve in the military, Florence lived with her parents. Upon his return they raised their family and farmed together in Hanson Township. In 1975, after Harry died unexpectedly, Florence remained on the farm until 2011 when she moved to the Prospect Manor and most recently the Beverly Anne. Florence was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Rachel Circle at Standing Rock Lutheran Church, the Red Hats and TOPS Clubs. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with her family. Florence is survived by her children, Kay (Bob) Burud of McKinney, TX; Barb (Randy) Dathe of LaMoure, ND; Wayne Strander of Lisbon, ND; Daryl Strander of Englevale, ND; six grandchildren, Paula (Steve) Ellis, Ross (Jamie) Burud, Kristin (Tony) Dinwiddie, Jeff Dathe, Janell Johnson and Justine (Derek) Brickner; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Pokrzywinski of Grand Forks, ND; Lillian Gilbertson of Fennimore, WI; Julie Ann (Marvin) Bauske of West Fargo, ND and Phyllis (Dave) Thompson of Lisbon, ND; sisters-in-law, Glenda Anderson of Irvine, CA and Bev Anderson of LaMoure, ND; numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry, grandson, Mark Burud, brothers, Ove Anderson, Marvin Anderson, sisters, Anne Guttormson, Lorraine Ostrom and Alice Olson. Visitation: Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, ND with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Standing Rock Lutheran Church, Fort Ransom, ND. Interment: Standing Rock Cemetery, Fort Ransom, ND
