Gary J. Blixt

Gary John Blixt, 78, of Casselton, ND, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019, at his home with his family by his side. Gary was born October 1, 1940, to George and Eldora (Pearson) Blixt. He grew up on the family farm near Argusville, ND. After graduation from Amenia High School in 1958, Gary enlisted in the Air National Guard at Fargo Hector Airport and was discharged October 31, 1968. Gary married Mary Maier November 26, 1966. They made their home in Fargo until moving to Argusville in 1969. Gary worked for General Motors Corp until 1972. He then took over the family farm and the family moved to Amenia. Gary also sold John Deere machinery for RD Offutt Co. until 1998. In 2006, they moved to Casselton and in semi-retirement, Gary worked for Ernie Krabbenhoft. Gary enjoyed NHRA drag racing and working on the race cars with his sons. He loved to play pinochle with friends and his children. He enjoyed going to their sporting events and later the grandchildren’s. Gary pitched fast pitch for the Argusville team and also loved going to the casino. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary, of 52 years; 2 sons and 2 daughters: Cindy (Mark) Voss of Casselton, ND, Scott (Fawn) Blixt of Oakes, ND, Becky (Dusty) Siverson and Chris (Mariah) Blixt both of Casselton; 9 grandchildren: Nick (Tonya) Voss and Halie, Rylie & Cole Holzer; Bethany Voss, Tommy Voss, Sami Blixt, Taylor Siverson, Olivia Siverson, Zaine, Macy & Hattie Blixt,; 2 great-grandchildren: Easton & Emersyn Voss; several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents: George & Eldora Blixt; sister & brother-in-law: Karen & Art Anderson and mother & father-in-law: John & Martha Maier; sister-in-law: JoAnn Charles and a brother-in-law: Dennis Maier. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer Service Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
