Gertrude Olson, 95, of Stephen, Minnesota died at North Valley Health Center in Warren, Minnesota on Friday, March 14, 2008.

Gertrude Smidt was born March 11, 1913 to Anton and Agnes (Enamark) Smidt at Ceylon, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Rudolph Olson September 18, 1937. Rudy and Gertrude lived in Stephen until 1969 when they moved to Moorhead, Minnesota. Rudy died on February 23, 2007. Gertrude returned to Stephen in 2007. Gertrude was a devoted wife and mother. She was a talented seamstress, loved to do needlework, crochet and enjoyed gardening. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church at Stephen.

Left to mourn her passing are daughters, Janice (Lowell) Barr, Rapid City, SD and Arleen (Floyd) Raffant, New Lenox, IL; grandchildren, Mark Waller, Audra (Waller) Adduci, Chad Manning, David Barr and Daniel Barr; great grandchildren, Matthew Richards, Emily Adduci, Abigail Adduci and Maya Waller; four sisters-in-law, Jeanne Olson, Pearl Smidt, Mabel Smidt and Diane Olson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudy; a three brothers, Albert, Christ and twin brother, Gust.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church at Stephen. Interment will be in the Stephen City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
