Jean A. Cariveau, 75, Ada, MN, formerly of Grand Forks, ND and Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, September 9, 2019 in the Benedictine Community Nursing Home in Ada. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 16 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Jean Ann Cariveau was born March 28, 1944 in Northwood, ND to Matthew and Helma (Ostlie) Simon. She was raised and educated in Northwood. Jean was united in marriage to Dale Cariveau in 1961 in Little Falls, MN. During her working life, she managed motels for 14 years. Dale died in 2006. She lived in Detroit Lakes from 2009 – 2014 and then in Grand Forks until entering the Benedictine Community Nursing Home in Ada in 2017. Survivors include four sons: Robert (Deb) of Midland, TX, Roger (Michele) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Rodney of Ada, MN, Ross (Tonya) of Deerwood, MN, five Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and a sister: Shirley Mutscher of Grand Forks, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, a son, Randy, a daughter, Roxann and a sister, Valerie. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
