Laurell L. Nelson
Laurell Louise Nelson, 80, of Moorhead, MN passed away on February 13, 2021, in Moorhead, just 28 days after her husband passed away.
Laurell was born January 5, 1941 in Moorhead, the daughter of Arthur C. and Leona (Klug) Overby. She attended school in Wolverton, MN, graduating high school from Barnesville. Laurell continued her education attending Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. Laurell enjoyed a long career working in the banking business, primarily operating proof machines. Her career began at banks in Moorhead and St. Paul, MN, transitioning to banking in Denver, CO, and ending at State Bank and Trust (Bell Bank).
On April 14, 1973, she was united in marriage to Albin E. Nelson in Wolverton. They made their lifetime home in Moorhead. After 46 years of work she retired in 2009. She was blessed with her many long-lasting friendships she made at work. She so enjoyed people and the friendships continued with regular luncheons, coffee, and get togethers. Prior to marriage she enjoyed traveling with her friends from New York to California, and later enjoyed trips around the upper Midwest with her husband and sons and finally with two trips to New York and New Jersey.
The joy of her life was her sons, Miles (Samantha) Nelson of Moorhead, and Guy (Tracy) Nelson of Apple Valley, MN, and granddaughters Olive, Tessa, and Willa. Laurell lived life with a strong faith and enjoyed her church family at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She looked forward to spending time with the quilting group.
Laurell is survived by her sons and their families; brother, Dr. Andrew (Nancy) Overby of Harmony, MN; sister, Marlys (Leo) Jacobson of Park Rapids, MN; and nieces, Sarah Wilwerding, Chris Hongerholt, Jenny Overby, Amy Dalby; and nephew, Jeremy Steen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albin; sister, Lorna Overby; brothers-in-law, Marvin Nelson and Bill Nelson; and sister-in-law; Loretta Nelson.
A public visitation will be held Friday, February 19, 2021, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd from 11AM-1PM followed by a Funeral Service for Laurell at 1:00 PM.
Burial will take place in the spring at Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Wolverton, MN.
