LeRoy Allen Mattson

LeRoy Allen Mattson, 84, passed away peacefully at Banner Hospital (Mesa) on March 31, 2020. LeRoy was born August 6, 1935 in Heimdal, North Dakota to Roy & Alma Mattson. He was the 1st of 6 children.

He was an Army Veteran and a proud patriot. He worked as a truck driver the majority of his life and retired at the age of 57 from Midwest Motor Express of Fargo, ND. After his retirement he devoted his time to helping his wife of 63 years run her real estate company. When he was not placing For Sale signs and answering the phone he loved to spend time fishing on Big Cormorant Lake. He also loved golf, especially once they started spending their winters in Mesa Arizona. LeRoy could be found on the golf course up to 5 days a week with many of his Mesa friends. 

He loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. He was loving, kind, positive, helpful and strong. Mere words cannot begin to describe all the ways in which he touched those around him. His legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

LeRoy is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Mattson of 63 years, his children: Son, Rick (Kris Messner) of Mesa Az, Daughter, Vicki (Larry White) Delano, Mn, 4 Grandchildren, Rachael Mattson, Kayla (Ben Merkling). Brittani Babler, Lindsay Babler. He has 4 great grandchildren, Leelan & Harlow, and Jonah & Rosie. Brother: Larry (Marlys Mattson) Fargo, ND.

LeRoy is proceeded in death by his parents, Roy & Alma, Sisters: Shirley Mikula, Dona Hampson, Sandra Motschenbacher & brother Mike Mattson. 

LeRoy will always be remembered for his kind demeanor, bright blue eyes and awesome sense of humor. The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and family that kept LeRoy in their prayers, held us up and supported the family during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life service (TBD) will be held the summer of 2020 at West Funeral Home with reception at the VFW, West Fargo.  Due to Covid 19 no dates have been set at this time.
