Lois Rickard
Lois Elaine Rickard, 81, Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Bethany Retirement Living. She was born February 7, 1939 in Hope, ND to Stanley and Anna (Fronk) Nelson. She grew up in Hope where she graduated from Hope High School. Lois then attended Valley City State Teacher’s College where she earned her degree.
Lois started her teaching career in Graceville, MN. She then taught at schools in Leonard and West Fargo, ND for several years.
On July 1, 1961 she was united in marriage to Thomas Rickard in First Methodist Church in Hope. The couple made their home in north Fargo. In 1973, Lois and Tom started Rickard Electric. Lois worked as the office manager and bookkeeper until they sold the business and retired in 1997.
Lois and Tom loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises and bus trips. Over the years, they visited Alaska, Washington DC, the Caribbean, Australia, and went to Hawaii many times. Lois and Tom had fond memories of their trip to New York where they saw the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and to Los Angeles where they saw the Rose Bowl Parade. They also wintered in Arizona for 16 years.
Lois and Tom loved gardening and had a beautiful flower garden with lots of roses. They enjoyed watching the birds who came to visit.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, Tom; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two infant siblings.
There will be a funeral service at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on Boulger’s website.
