Lyle Dwayne Johnson

MSgt Lyle Dwayne Johnson USAF (Ret.) passed away February 6, 2021 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville IL at age 78 from lung cancer. Lyle was born January 21, 1943, Carrington ND, to Arthur W. and Alvina (Zerb) Johnson.

Graduated from Sykeston High School, Sykeston ND May 1961. He graduated from Minot State University, Minot ND in 1984. Lyle received his Master’s degree from Central Michigan University 1988.

On November 9, 1963 he married Patricia A. (Pat) Suckut at St Elizabeth Catholic Church, Sykeston ND. July 1961 he enlisted in the US Air Force, retired 1981. He was employed by Civil Service June 1986, retired June 2010. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, O’Fallon IL serving in many capacities including Stephen Ministry.

He is survived by his wife Pat and three sons Mark (Sharon) Monroe WA, Michael Tucson AZ and Matthew (Renee) Williston ND. Three grandchildren Michaela Johnson (Ruben) Pina, Kirkland WA, Samantha Johnson, Carrboro NC and Kyle (Angel) Parrish Great Lakes IL. 2 great grandchildren Benjamin & Amelia Parrish, Great Lakes IL. Two sisters, Ardith Champion and Doris Martin Hemet CA. Two brothers Gary (Kathy) Vancouver WA, Leroy Sykeston ND, sister-in-law Sharon Johnson Fort Collins CO, maternal aunt Elsie Hieb, Jamestown ND and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Johnston and Jeanette Casebolt, brothers Donald and Rodger.

Visitation will be held at Funeral Home, O’Fallon IL. Funeral Services will be held February 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, O’Fallon IL. Interment will be at Jefferson National Barracks, St Louis MO.

Honorary Pallbearers are his sons and their families, along with all relatives and friends.
