Marian Kasowski
Marian Kasowski, age 87, of Fargo, formerly Buffalo, ND, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Riverview Place, Fargo.
Marian Anna Von Bank was born October 14, 1933 at Buffalo, ND, the daughter of Henry and Hedwig “Hattie” (Nilles) Von Bank. She grew up on a farm near Buffalo. After attending grade school in Buffalo, Marian attended high school and was a member of the first graduating class of 1951 at Shanley High School (formerly known as Sacred Heart Academy).
On July 9, 1953, Marian Anna Von Bank and Harold Lloyd Kasowski were united in marriage at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Buffalo. They lived on the Kasowski family farm for a short time prior to moving to their own farm. Together Harold and Marian farmed until retiring in 1995. They moved into Buffalo in 2006, and had recently moved to Riverview Place, Fargo. Harold, Marian’s lifelong companion, passed away on November 27, 2020.
Marian had an opinion about her obituary, “Anyone who knows me, knows what I have done and anyone who doesn’t know me, doesn’t care.” That being said, one still has to share how Marian made everyone she met feel special, welcomed and beloved. Her soul followed the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and she used the many gifts God gave her, whether it be with music, sewing, baking or hospitality. The generosity of her time and talents were endless.
Marian loved the community of Buffalo and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Buffalo, where she served as church organist for nearly 70 years. The top three priorities in her life were faith, family and friends. Some of her greatest joys were attending community events or those of her children and grandchildren. The family had a nonstop banter about who was Marian’s favorite and she would assure she loved everyone equally. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Well done good and faithful servant.
She is survived by 5 children: Dale (Mary) Kasowski, Bismarck, ND, Buck (Carrie) Kasowski, Grand Forks, ND, Michael (Gail) Kasowski, Fisher, MN, Nancy (Allen) Weisbeck, Bismarck, ND, Donna Kasowski, Goodyear, AZ; a daughter-in-law Marcia Kasowski, Hartford, SD; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Robert (Judith) Von Bank, Fargo, ND, James (Nancy) Von Bank, Blaine, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son David Kasowski; parents Henry and Hattie Von Bank; sister Delores Lambert; brothers Donald and Ralph Von Bank; grandchildren Nichole Waters and John Kasowski; and great-grandchild Maelee Kasowski.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to the charity of your choice.
PRIVATE Mass of Christian Burial: 1 pm Saturday, December 19, 2020 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Buffalo. The service will be recorded and posted to the funeral home’s website by 6pm Saturday.
