Matthew Free

Our beloved Matthew David Free 27, Bismarck lost his battle with addiction on January 25, 2019. Services will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck.

He was born October 28, 1991 the son of Tiffany and Wade McMahen, in Bismarck, ND and later moved to Fargo in 1995. Matthew formed many great friends and formed a passion for skateboarding; he and his dad built a half pipe in the backyard. He graduated from Fargo South High in 2010. Following high school Matthew spent several years working at Fargo Linoleum with his dad who taught him all the tricks of the trade when it came to carpet and tile installation. Matthew had recently moved back to Bismarck and was living with his Uncle Todd.

Matthew had a free spirit about him, he was one of the most caring, sensitive individuals you would ever meet. He had a love and passion for skate boarding, drawing, writing, making jewelry (which he always had to find the perfect rock to place in his jewelry) and making dream catchers. He had a dream and goal to have his own business one day called "HOO DID IT DISTRIBUTIONS" and sell his jewelry and dream catchers; unfortunately his addiction took him before he could make that dream come true. Matthew had a wonderful relationship with the Lord. Matthew is welcomed with open arms in heaven by his grandparents Rosie and Leo Free and Jerry McMahen where he is at peace and at last free from addiction.

Matthew leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his parents Tiffany and Wade McMahen, Fargo; sister, Brittany McMahen, Cheyenne, WY; auntie Tonya & uncle John, Cheyenne, WY; cousins, Lillian and Gregory; uncle Todd, Bismarck; uncle Wayne and aunt Angie, Lincoln; cousins, Gage, Ciearra, Ashley, & Cole; aunt Brenda and uncle Tim, Fergus Falls, MN; cousins, Michael, Waterloo, IA, Kimberly, Taylor, Kaylin; aunt Wanda & uncle Kelly, Colorado Springs, CO; grandma Carol McMahen, Bismarck.
