Newton Paul Nelson died after a brief illness, on May 19, 2019. He was born April 2, 1926 in River Falls, Wisconsin, and left the region after graduation from high school in 1944. He had been residing in Mount Vernon, Washington, with his wife of 67 years, Lillian Nelson. He was 93. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon, Washington.
