Mary Lee Hajek, 86, formerly of Davenport, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the New Perspectives Senior Living Facility in Eagan, MN, where she had been a resident of Betty’s Harbor Memory Care since March 2017.
Mary was born on August 3, 1933 to Walter Briscoe and Clara Nelson in Fargo, ND. Mary attended high school at Central High in Fargo and married George Hajek on January 7, 1955.
Mary and George enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage on their farm near Davenport, ND. Mary spent her years making a home for her family and stayed active with bowling, card games, horseshoes, square dancing, and was also an avid sports fan. She especially enjoyed watching George play softball in his active years. Mary was an active member of Horace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years.
Mary is survived by and will be missed by her sister, Donna Helland of Kalispell, MT, daughter, Georgia Giguere (Dave) and sons, Michael and Glen, grandchildren, Nicholas (Lauren) and Matthew, and great grandchild, Quinton along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George, brothers Eugene and Roger Nelson, and sisters Glennis (Stuart) Summers and Carol (Ray) Hajek.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held graveside at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12, at St. John’s Cemetery near Horace, ND.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
