Connie Laura Gylland was born September 11th, 1942 in Fresno California to Floyd and Thelma Vargas. She passed away November 16th, 2020 in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. At the age of 16 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
When Connie and David met for the first time, it was love at first sight. When Connie returned home from the convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses where they met, she told her mother that she “was going to marry a farmer from North Dakota.” They were married on September 23rd in 1961. They lived in various places through the years. Her favorite place was Colorado. Connie loved the mountains. She loved the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee.
Connie was known for her kind heart, sense of humor and her outstanding generosity. She gave of herself to others, gave materially, but most important to her was helping others spiritually. Connie and David loved entertaining friends, cooking for them and spending time with them.
She loved nature and all living things, especially her cats she had over the years. She loved doing artwork and giving it as gifts. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved using her karaoke machine. No matter how many times she heard David’s jokes, Connie genuinely laughed at them.
She is survived by her husband David, daughter Jessica (Steve) Vickerman, son Jared Gylland, sister Carolyn Hargis and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dennis and Delbert and her son Jeff.
Connie is leaving an emptiness in our hearts.
There will be a private memorial.
