Betty Lunneborg

Betty Lou (Rogelstad) Lunneborg received her angel wings at the age of 93, early in the morning of Monday, April 24th, 2023, at Edgewood Vista in Mandan, ND under the care of CaringEdge hospice. Visitation will be held at Milnor Lutheran Church on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Rick Bryant. Betty’s service will be live streamed on the Dahlstrom Funeral Home website www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com on her obituary page.
Betty was born on the family farm near Heimdal, ND on September 5, 1929 and was the youngest child of John and Helen (Floberg) Rogelstad. Betty was baptized and confirmed at East Vang country church near Heimdal. She attended rural school which was about 3 ½ miles from their farm and either rode her pony to school or rode in a buggy that was pulled by her pony. She rode in a caboose style sled with runners, (which was designed by her father), to get to school in the winter months. Betty graduated from Fessenden Public School in 1947 and then moved to Fargo, ND after graduation to work at NDSU in the Agriculture Department and later for her uncle at Gate City Bank.
While in Fargo, she roomed with 2 girls from Milnor, ND and it was there that Betty met Harris. They were married on December 3, 1955 at Hoff Lutheran Church in Heimdal, ND. Harris earned his U.S. Air Force wings in June 1956 and while Harris was serving in the U.S. Air Force, Betty and Harris lived in Del Rio, Texas at Laughlin AFB, in Panama City, Florida at Tyndal AFB, and in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Harris and Betty returned to Milnor, ND in 1958 and moved onto the farm where Harris was born. Betty and Harris farmed together for over 40 years and she thoroughly enjoyed her time outside in the yard, especially when she was mowing or pulling weeds. Betty was also known for her baking skills and her kitchen often smelled of homemade buns and “bumpy bread”, freshly made brownies, cream puff dessert, chocolate chip cookies, and banana bread. Their 3 children, Lori, Scott, and Ross were raised on the family farm.
After their children graduated from high school, Betty and Harris traveled to Norway where she was able to see the home where her grandparents had once lived. The home still had a pot-bellied stove! They also enjoyed being very loyal and supportive fans of Milnor Bison basketball teams as well as following the NDSU Women Bison. They traveled with the NDSU Women Bison by bus to cheer on the team as they played for the National Championship.
Betty is survived by her 98 year old sister, Muriel Delzer, Harvey, ND, children Lori (Bruce) Meyers and Scott Lunneborg, Mandan, ND, Ross Lunneborg, Mesa, AZ, 10 grandchildren - Miranda (Scott) Wilkens, Tracy (Nathan) Olmscheid, Matthew (Billie) Meyers, Brandon Stone, Shane (Hannah) Lunneborg, Lisa (Bennett) Johnson, Skylar (Nicole) Meyhoff, Logan (Casey Paul) Lunneborg, Kara Lunneborg, and Kolten Lunneborg, 19 great-grandchildren - Adym Utter, Mya Utter, Sophie Olmscheid, Harper Wilkins, Jack Olmscheid, Bergan Wilkens, Gage Stone, Matthew Haugen, Lennon Ehlen, Bryar Lunneborg, Liam Lunneborg, Olin Johnson, Harper Lunneborg, Berkeley Meyhoff, Zaelyn Meyhoff, Bronwen Johnson, River Meyhoff, Asher Lunneborg, and Aria Lunneborg, sister-in-law Sharon Lunneborg, brother-in-law Orvis Stockstad, and numerous nieces and nephews.
