Marjorie Almen

Marjorie Almen, 93, passed away on March 14, 2023, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, North Dakota.

Marjorie Ann (Egerstrom) Almen was born on September 9, 1929, in Kerkhoven, Minnesota, to David Egerstrom and Cora Merryman Egerstrom.

Marjorie graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1947 and went on to earn a Home Economics degree from North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) in Fargo, North Dakota, in 1951. She started her career as a home economics teacher in Park River where she met Lennart Almen who was farming west of Park River.

Marjorie married Lennart in Kerkhoven, Minnesota, on July 17, 1953. They made their home on the Almen family farm in rural Park River. Lennart died December 14, 2017.

Marjorie was best known for her radiant smile, care for others, juneberry pie, sewing, mending, and knitting. She enjoyed serving many meals in her home for family and friends. There was always a special touch of fresh flowers, pretty napkins and food with a lovely presentation. Anyone stopping at the farm would be invited in for at least coffee and a homemade cookie.

Marjorie was very involved at St. Peter and Our Savior’s Lutheran churches in Bible studies, Ladies Aid, knitting group, and any other activity that required volunteers.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Mary Fischer (Dan), Carol Leach (Dave); son, Peter (Joann); grandchildren, Justin, Nicolas, and Kristen; and several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie is preceded in death by husband, Lennart; parents, Dave and Cora; sister, Mildred; and grandson, Nathan.

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.

A graveside service and burial will be held in the summer at St. Peter Cemetery, rural Park River, North Dakota.

Memorial donations may be made in Marjorie’s name to St. Peter Cemetery Association or the Park River Bible Camp.
