Regina Hanson

Regina Hanson, 96, of Moorhead, MN, died May 11, 2023, at River Pointe of Moorhead, under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Regina Gundella-Palma Hagene was born in Moorhead on April 10, 1927, to Erik and Venla (Snartland) Hagene. She grew up in rural Glyndon, was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church and remained an active member there her entire life. After graduating from high school in Moorhead, Regina worked as a nanny in Minneapolis for a short time and then worked for Western Union sending telegrams during World War II.

On October 10, 1948, Regina married Norman Hanson at Concordia Lutheran Church. For 58 years they lived on a farm in rural Glyndon where they raised their 4 children.

Family and church were extremely important to Regina and she was very active taking care of her home and family and participating in church activities. At church she enjoyed being involved with Ladies Aid and Sunday School. She was also a leader for 4-H and active in Homemakers and Birthday Club. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, baking, sewing, and rosemaling. She especially loved entertaining and hosting gatherings of her neighbors, family and friends. She will be remembered for her generous and loving spirit, always giving to others and putting their needs before her own.

Regina is survived by her children, Cheryl (Rick) Ostlie, Keith (Kathy) Hanson, Neil (Polly) Hanson and Les Hanson; brother, Myron Hagene; sister-in-law, Delores Hagene; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman, and brother, Valdemar Hagene.

Visitation: Monday, May 15, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Funeral: Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Glyndon. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Video tribute and online guestbook at www.wrightfuneral.com.
