Robert A. Volk

Robert (Bob) Aloise Volk, 86, died peacefully at his home in Casselton, ND on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Bob was the second of six children, born to Aloise and Elizabeth Volk in Rugby, ND, on May 30, 1936. Bob graduated from Rugby High School and joined the Navy, where he served for 4 years. After his time in the Navy, Bob returned to ND where he attended Wahpeton Science School to become an electrician. He started his career at Modern Electric and retired in 2001 after spending several years as a job foreman for Rick Electric, Inc. in Moorhead, MN. In retirement he enjoyed seasonal farm work and spending time on the golf course.

On May 26, 1962, Bob married Margaret (Marge) Hanson in Devils Lake, ND. Bob and Marge started their married life in Fargo, ND, and after living in Langdon, ND for 4 years, they moved to Casselton, ND and called that home the remaining 60+ years of their marriage.

Bob had a way of making everyone feel like family, was quick with a comeback, and was a wonderful example to everyone he was around. He taught us to work hard, be considerate, love others deeply and tell them often. We are all thankful for the unconditional love and support he showed everyone over the years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Ginger (Jason) Lange, Albuquerque, NM; Terry Volk, Lakewood, CO; and Cindy Wixo, Bensenville, IL. 7 grandchildren, Mario, Sam and Joe Lange, Albuquerque, NM, Elan and Maisa Volk, Lakewood, CO and Luke (Adara) Wixo, Sioux Falls, SD; Megan (Javier) Mattson, Detroit Lakes, MN; and Thomas Wixo, Los Angeles, CA. Sisters, Nettie (Herb) Felch, Devils Lake, ND and Edie Walker, Paramont, CA,; brothers, Ken (Marie) Volk, Yakima, WA and Duane Volk, Green Bay, WI. He also had several nieces and nephews and 5 great grandchildren,

Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Hanson, his sister-in-law, Bev Volk, and his parents. Visitation: 5 to 7 pm Monday, May 15th, 2023, followed by a 7 pm Vigil Service at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the church.
