Sharon Rae Schroeder died April 6 at age 87 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Sharon was born in Bismarck, ND to Leona and Harold Thompson. It was there she met the love of her life, Richard Schroeder. They were married in February of 1955 and spent many happy years together. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.  Their life took them all over the United States, from North Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Missouri, and Arizona.

Sharon was not only an avid bridge player, but a good one! She loved playing golf  or solving a tricky crossword puzzle. She would watch Wheel of Fortune every night, and could beat any contestant until the very end. She made the BEST apple pie. She loved to dance; she and Richard’s dancing was so in  sync, they were the envy of all who saw them. Most of all, Sharon was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard, her three daughters Tracy Schroeder, Erin Skarphol, son-in-law Matt, Kristi Eicher, son-in-law Bill, her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sisters Callie Mauel and Kyle Utter. She is predeceased by her son-in-law Kenny Rotner.

Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Mesa on Saturday, April 15 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church 161 North Mesa Drive, Mesa, AZ 85201.
