Patty Vacha

Patricia Lynne Vacha, 69, Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Bethany on University in Fargo. She was born on December 2, 1950, in Anaconda, Montana, to John and Lorraine (Gunderson) Kramvik. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968. On March 12, 1971, Patty was united in marriage to John Vacha in Moorhead. She started her career at Northwestern Bell before deciding to stay home and raise her family.

There is so much that can be said about this very special wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and more. Patty enjoyed hiking, camping, sitting in the sun, photography, and watching sports. She especially loved to cheer on the Twins, Cubs, Vikings, and Sioux hockey. She also spent many years volunteering and raising money for the CROP Walk.

Patty was always thoughtful, generous, caring, considerate, and kind. She demonstrated this by perpetually sending cards and notes to loved ones, selecting gifts for special events, and eager to celebrate everyone’s milestones. She loved her family and friends and always went the extra mile to show them that and make them feel special.

Patty loved to gather with others and was extremely social. She took pride in her appearance and could always be seen in colorful coordinated outfits. So many comments on her great sense of humor, always ready with a smile, to share in a laugh, generally a good-natured jokester and storyteller. Patty was definitely one of the most positive people we knew... sharing her good attitude and joy with those around her. She was happy to be included and eager to join in the fun - such as a potluck dinner, pontoon ride, yard games, or bonfire.

Patty was patient, selfless, resilient, courageous, and could see through life’s circumstances and continue to love fearlessly, always showing compassion for the people and animals in her life. She had a special relationship with animals, especially with her “granddog” Sky. We believe that her legacy lives on in the lifelong journey and memories made with her — a woman of courage who exemplified strength. When others would’ve shown weakness, caved, and given up hope… Patty remained faithful and determined. Most important was that she had unshakable faith, and it was her uplifting take on life that was an inspiration to so many!

She is survived by her husband John; daughter, Susie (Rick) Stoltz, Hastings, MN; son, Pete (Heather) Vacha, West Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Lauren, Kyle, Aidan, Xavier, and Parker; mother, Lorraine (Jerry) Peterson; four brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John; and brother, Robert.

There will be a visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, November 19th at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home that will be open to the public, followed by a private memorial service at 7:00 pm. The service will be live-streamed on the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home website.

The family of Patty thanks Bethany on University for their wonderful care. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Bethany Retirement Living.
