Pearl Frieda (Fick) Rehborg

Pearl Frieda Fick, daughter of Charles and Frieda (Richter) Fick was born at her parent's home June 25th, 1927 in Dora Township near Vergas, MN. She was baptized on July 10th, 1927 and confirmed on May 26, 1940 at St. Paul's Loon Lake Church by Vergas, MN. Pearl had 4 brothers and 7 sisters. She attended a country school through the 8th grade along with her siblings. After school she went off to work at various places including Lake Lida Store, cafes and working for other people in the area. She married Delbert Rehborg on August 25th, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed near her parent's home until the fall of 1949. At that time, they moved back to Delbert's hometown in Gwinner, ND where they joined the Zion Lutheran Church. She was active in the church and participated in the LWML and the Quilting Group. They raised their children there and farmed in the area for the next 58 years.

Pearl was a quiet shy farm wife, spending most of her time at home. She was a hard worker and very determined to do her best as quickly and perfectly as possible. She could milk cows in the morning and evening, wash a load or two of clothes in the old wringer washer, pull weeds in the garden, tend to her flower gardens, feed the chickens and gather eggs to sell on any typical day. Some years they also had pigs, ducks and geese to care for and of course, dogs, & cats. She did some field work, painted the house and outside buildings, mowed lawns with a push mower. Yet she still had time to bake pies, cakes and cookies. She used to make some of the children's clothes, sew curtains, crochet doilies, etc. but her favorite passion was her love for making quilts. She made hundreds, maybe thousands, in her lifetime and gave almost all of them away. She and Delbert liked to play cards, do puzzles, paint yard art, and they loved to dance. She enjoyed having her kids and grandkids around her. Her family was her life. Pearl's life changed when Delbert passed away on December 19th, 2007 after 59 years of marriage. In September 2014, she suffered a severe stroke and was restricted in every way. In October of that year, she moved into Four Seasons Healthcare Center in Forman, ND. She suffered from heart and lung disease along with her paralysis from her stroke. Pearl passed away quietly on December 9th, 2018 under the care of Hospice and surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 91 years. She was deeply devoted to God and lived her life accordingly.

She is survived by a son, Timothy (JoAnne) Rehborg; 2 daughters, Celeste (Steve) Metzen and Debra (Dwight) Mattern; 8 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by 4 sisters, Ruth Davis, Laura Kmoch, Lorraine Davis, Wilma Teigen, 1 brother, Ralph Fick, 2 sisters-in law Alvina Fick and Frances Rehborg and 1 brother-in-law, Jim Thomas.
