Steve Roberts, 52, Park Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in St. Joseph's Area Hospital, Park Rapids.

Mr. Roberts, known as "Papa Smurf," was born June 20, 1952, in Greensburg, Ind. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked 16 years as a forklift driver for North State Industries, Nevis, Minn. He married Joan Stanek Aug. 30, 1997. They owned and operated a campground near Park Rapids.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Steven, Greensburg; his mother, Alice Green, Greensburg; two brothers, Richard, Greensburg, Bill, Oklahoma; four sisters, Jackie, Donna, Lisa, Amy, Greensburg; and several grandchildren.

Visitation: Today from 10 to 11 in the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids.

Funeral: Today at 11 in the funeral home.
