Steven E. Beilke

Steven Edwin Beilke, 66, Fargo, ND died on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at his home.

Steve was born June 7, 1955, in Fargo, ND. He grew up in nearby Casselton and graduated from Central Cass High School in 1973. He then pursued a music career, earning a B.S. degree in Music/Business at Valley City State University and an M.S. degree in Music Education at Moorhead State University. Steve moved on to teach music for 28 years: 7 years in North Dakota (Hope and Tower City), 1 year in Arizona (Yuma), and 20 years in California (Salinas and Chico). He was an effective musician and fun-loving teacher, loved by students and recognized by parents and community members for the entertaining concerts and programs he presented at his various schools.

In addition to teaching, Steve had a passion for music performance and was a rock-and-roll Guitarist/Vocalist in several bands over 19 years. He played with :Bitterwood” a Casselton based band from 1973-1976. He then played with “Harbor” a band based out of Valley City, from 1976-1987. In Yuma, AZ, he played with “The Heat” in 1987-1988, and from 1988-1992 he played with the band, “Night Moves” out of San Jose, CA. In his retirement years, Steve enjoyed composing music using electronic software programs.

Steve was a creative, quiet guy with a quirky sense of humor. He enjoyed his family with a soft spot for his nieces and nephews, Bison football, professional football and basketball, Facebook, and his beloved cat, Maggie. He was a member of the EBC Music Fraternity at VCSU, was active with their annual Hit Parade, and maintained EBC contacts over the years. Steve was a loyal, steadfast friend to many, and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Evelyn Beilke, and his sister, Judy. He is survived by his brother, Eldon Beilke (Janice) his sister, Sandy Sevig (Gerold) two nieces, two nephews, and several other relatives and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 4601 University Drive, Fargo, ND. Visitation starting at 1:00 p.m., Service 2:00 p.m., and fellowship to follow. West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center westfuneralhome.com
