Viola Buckhouse

Viola Buckhouse, 91 of Hankinson, ND passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND. Visitation will be Friday, January 18, 2019 from 9-11 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hankinson, ND. Burial will be in the spring in United Cemetery, Hankinson.

Viola Ottilia Anna Buckhouse was born November 16, 1927 in Richland County, rural Hankinson, ND, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Knaak) Buckhouse. She attended public school through the eighth grade and then stayed home with her parents and did her share of the work. In the fall of 1963 she and her father moved to Hankinson. In 1972 she started working at St. Gerard’s Nursing Home in the dietary department and was there for 23 years. She sang in the church choir for 40 years and was soloist for many funerals, weddings and church services.

Viola was the youngest of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Edwin, Otto, Howard, Albert, Gilbert, Clarence & Allen; sisters: Louise, Lila, Frances & Mary, who died in infancy. She is survived by many nieces & nephews.
