Winifred (Chambers) Christianson

Winifred (Chambers) Christianson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

Winifred was born on May 9, 1926 in Grafton, ND to Roy and Blanche Chambers. She grew up on their family farm near Crystal, ND with her parents, brother and sister. She taught school in 1945 for one year before marrying Mayo Christianson in 1946. They began their married life in Bismarck before moving to Fargo where they raised 5 children - 2 boys and 3 girls - and resided there for the remainder of their years.

Winifred was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in Circle and Ladies Bible Studies. She was also in PEO.

In addition to being an avid bridge player, Winifred was a gourmet cook and her baked goods were second to none. But her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.

Winifred is survived by her children: Ted (Linda) Christianson, Mitchell, SD; Forrest Christianson, Denver, CO; Melody (Jeff) Bober, Frazee, MN; Heidi (Todd) Grages, Waterloo, NE; Heather (Paul) Sorum, Fargo, ND; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mayo, and great-grandson Mayo Roy Sorum.

Winifred’s celebration of life will be held at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home on Saturday, June 5, at 11:00am.
